Nurse 2 Nurse checking in

As the field supervisor was checking in on the Nurse 2 Nurse team, he asked how their day went. These were their responses:
Today’s day was...
Andie- fruitful
Ravin - divinely appointed
Lizzy - encouraging
Ella - blessing
Victoria - exciting
Eliz - joyful

We spent some time in the morning mapping places around us and met a few people interested in meeting up for coffee. The English club was such an encouragement and looking forward to getting to know the students. Definitely a very good day. PTL!

Team Leader Training... my perspective

I really have no words for how this last week of team leader (TL) training and orientation went. I came into the week not really expecting to bond with any other team leaders besides the ones going to Romania — but the Father had other plans. There were around 50 TLs that arrived Monday to the Alabama training site, representing many states and heading to 18 countries for the summer.

You’d think that with so many differences in personality and backgrounds, it would be hard to find common ground between us all. But it’s not. We have Someone uniting us all in a desire to reach the nations for His glory. When you think about that, you can easily see why we get so close (metaphorically AND physically!) in such a short time. I think that’s an aspect of serving alongside others that doesn’t often get recognized — and I’ve always felt like serving with others is a pressure-cooker environment for relationships. This can be positive or negative, and I’m happy to let y’all know it was all positive for us last week.

Nehemiah Teams 2019: Orientation

Who? 180 students going to 18 countries
When? Leader orientation from May 27-30. Member orientation from May 30-June 2
Where? Nehemiah Teams Training Center in Mentone, Alabama
Why? The unreached are waiting for an opportunity to hear the Gospel.

After 3 days of team leader training, Thursday, May 30th arrived and 180 total students went full-steam ahead with training. Days were filled with security training, team building, evangelism training, worship, and culture & language learning. Training sessions were led by a volunteer staff of current/former IMB missionaries, nationals, former Nehemiah Team members & local ministry partners.

Local churches provided meals, housing for staff, and transportation to the Atlanta airport. We are so thankful for the partnership of so many churches in the surrounding area.

We opened the "doors" to the community for the Sunday night service, with many from area churches and parents joining us for worship.

As training finished up Monday afternoon, the students heard a final challenge during the evening worship service. Team leaders led their teams in a time of commitment to the task in front of them as they finished the night. Then it was time to get packed up & begin their trek to their final destination.

Join us in praying for the teams this summer. You can download a prayer calendar at www.nehemiahteams.com

Lottie Moon Christmas Offering: Day 8

The Path to Hope

The world has more refugees today than ever before in recorded history. They’re on the move across dangerous seas. They’re trekking on foot over mountain ranges. They’re trying to create a life for themselves in a new country with nothing but the clothes on their back.

And in the midst of their heartbreaking story, many refugees have walked right into the eternal hope that was waiting for them all along.

IMB workers all over the globe say they are seeing refugees come to faith in Christ in the ashes of their tragedy. It’s an unprecedented opportunity for the gospel to reach people from hard-to-reach countries. More...

Lottie Moon Christmas Offering: Day 7

Keeping the Well from Running Dry

At the end of a beaten-up road in Tanzania, a small hospital occasionally gets as full as it can get, and then runs on empty. In the past, it’s had moments where sick children slept two or three to a bed. It’s had moments where anesthetic drugs for C-sections and suture materials for surgery have run out.

But the situation has never stayed that way for long, reported Larry Pepper, an IMB doctor. Over and over, churches have stepped up to cover the hospital’s needs, all the way from wheelchairs to building a new pediatric wing. More...
