House to House

Early in the week our host mom told us Saturday we would be doing house to house visitation with the students’ families . We were both so excited to see some of our students’ houses and be able to interact with their families. We went to the market early to get some soy sauce, fish sauce, and sugar to make small gift bags for the families. As we went to different houses in the village we asked if we could pray for them. Most of them asked for us to pray for good health, their sick loved ones, work, and to be able to allow their children to finish their education.  Most of the houses had small temples in there yard where they will offer sacrifices to the gods. Every family was very welcoming. One family even offered to have us stay for lunch. We were amazed to be able to join them in their houses and pray to our Lord with them.  

Pray that visitations can happen regularly and the Gospel will be shared in the homes of the students.

Team Favorites: Engage Cambodia

Brian: The coolest thing was seeing kids from our night class start coming to church. Building relationships with them and being able to share the gospel outright has been such a blessing. These are a people I'll never forget.

Mikki: It has been so neat to see glimpses of the work that God has already been doing here in Cambodia. It has been such a privilege and a joy to join in & be a part of it! I absolutely adore the students we've been working with as well as the family that we have been staying with. I have been very inspired & encouraged by the faith of our host family. God is so good!

Abbs: The biggest way I saw God working was through our relationships. Our students memorized verses every week, and we prayed everyday as a class. The relationships that were built with our family and students was only a work from the Lord, it was so cool to see His continuous faithfulness.

Nathan: In our night English class, the excitement the students have shown about the Bible stories that we have been telling them about Jesus is awesome. The relationship with some of the older boys in our home and showing them God's love has been really encouraging.

Goodbyes are never easy

It's crazy to think that our time here in Cambodia has come to a close. The relationships and friendships that we have built with the people here has no doubt been a work of the Lord. The Lord has continued to show His faithfulness to us and has continuously shown His goodness to us. We have gotten to see firsthand the steady work of the Lord. Though Cambodia is a much under evangelized country, God is here and He is working through these people.

Saying goodbye to our friends, and now family, is something that our team has not been looking forward to. The host family that we have stayed with has made us apart of their family. What started as unfamiliar strangers, became one family united under Christ. The Lord has blessed us immensely, and we will never forget what the Lord has done for us here. 

We have learned so much within the past two months, and seen just a glimpse of how big and faithful our God is. Goodbyes are never easy, but we have hope that we will see them again sometime. The Lord's work is not finished in Cambodia, rather just getting started.

"You Siem Reap What You Sow"

This week, our team had the opportunity to take time to tour and visit Siem Reap. While we were there, we got to spend time with our sister team, Whatever it Takes for Cambodia. We saw many of the ancient monuments and even visited the night market. At the night market, we were reacquainted with our Caucasian comrades, white people everywhere. We had the chance to eat a tarantula. We met a man named Douk and had the opportunity to pray over him, and hear his story. 

Prayer Requests: 

• Focus- that we will be able to finish our last two weeks, with perseverance to sharing the gospel 
• Revival- that God would stir in the hearts of the Khmer and build His church here
• Strength- that our team would have strength and energy to finish the task that the Lord has granted us with.

Whatever it Takes for Cambodia - updates and prayers

This last week we ate some snail, not as bad as we thought. We got to meet some Korean missionaries, and spent Sunday morning in a local village. Every Thursday and Sunday the youth students who live here go out to local village and do Sunday School out there with the kids. We also tag along and it is so great to see the youth leading such important things.  We love being in the villages, it's so quiet and peaceful. Some of the churches run 15 kids while other villages will have over 75 kids show up. This last week we also got our visas renewed without having to travel 6 hours to the border. We were able to travel 3 hours to the capital. We have also been getting new students in the school which are answers to prayers. Last January the school lost some students to other schools. But since then our host family has gained the students that transferred and some. Once we leave there is another volunteer coming to help. This volunteer has no support so the host mom has taken it upon herself to help raise support. We only need about 8 more students to help support her long term stay here.

Bible study group

We have reached the halfway point.  Our hearts sadden because that means in about 3 weeks this journey will be over. We look forward to the next three weeks because our relationships with the local teachers here have been strengthened and Bible study is still going strong. This last week we got some quality time hearing one of the teacher’s stories. She is 21, lost her mother her senior year of high school and could not express how thankful she was for the church.  We love sitting and listening to our host mom tell stories. We love learning so much from her and her life here.Some days can be discouraging because of the language barrier and not being able to verbally give Gospel straight to the kids. But we know our host family here is focused on that and I am here to serve them.  

Prayer Requests:

• The last three weeks we will stay focus and do the work we have been given with joy
• God will send more students to the school
• Homesickness
• Bible study with the teachers
• The senior students are about to take their end of the year test. They have studied so hard. Pray that they will pass.
• Relationships will strengthen
• God will change lives and hearts

Engage Cambodia: Here and Loving it

We have completed our second week here in Cambodia. It has been so cool seeing how faithful the Lord is. We are teaching English to the Cami students, and have been building relationships with our students. Our host family has been a huge blessing to our lives as well. They have opened their house to us and have made us feel so at home. It has been awesome living with them, and growing together in Christ. 

Some of our team members are teaching at a local pre-school, and others are teaching at a local church. All of the team members are teaching English classes at the village where we are staying. On Monday, Wednesday and Friday we have the opportunity to teach the Bible at a far village. On Sundays, we go to the local church then teach an English class at a far village. It has been amazing seeing how the Lord can work through the language barriers and culture differences.

• Continued opportunities to share the gospel with the people of Cambodia.
• Our host family, so that we can bless them with our stay

Engage Cambodia: We Made It!

We have completed our first week in Cambodia. The Lord has shown His faithfulness to us so many times throughout the week. We teach English classes multiple times everyday. We teach at local schools, churches, and villages. It has been a joy to get to know the students and build relationships with them. We have already seen the Lord work through some relationships that have been placed here. Now to meet the team!

Tara: Tara is our Team Leader. She is from Florida and getting her Master's Degree in Mathematical Sciences. Her favorite color is orange, and she enjoys to play the guitar and drums. Her favorite Bible verse John 3:30.

Mikki: Mikki is from Mississippi and is about to be a senior while studying Spanish. Mikki's favorite color is purple, and her name is not really Mikki. (It is Fumiko). She enjoys to play the guitar and reading. Her favorite Bible verse is Romans 8:28.

Nathan: Nathan is from Alabama. He is currently undecided on his major, but is interested in international missions. His favorite color is sunset orange, and he is an Eagle Scout. Nathan enjoys spending time with people and doing the conga line. His favorite Bible verse is Job 12:10. 

Brian: Brian is from the back backwoods of North Carolina, but attends school in Montana. He is studying Paleontology, aka he loves dinosaurs. His favorite color is blue, and he saved a Colombian man from a raging North Carolina river. Brian enjoys drawing and singing in the shower. His favorite Bible verse is 1 Corinthians 15:58. 

Abbey: Abbey is from Missouri and attends school there while studying Special Education. Her favorite color is yellow or blue, and she has a pet skunk at home named Stanley. Abbey enjoys to journal and be outside. Her favorite Bible verse is Matthew 10:39. 

Alexa: Alexa is from Ohio, she attends school there and is majoring in Early Childhood Education. Her favorite color is lavender, and she once broke her arm on a blob. Alexa enjoys to read, knit, and be outside. Her favorite Bible verse is Esther 4:14.
