Missing Babel

We are really missing this funny little man. Best known as "Babel" because he would talk to people that weren't really there. He would pass our house every day and speak jibberish. We didn't speak a lot of Thai let alone jibberish so he really stressed us out. However, he became our best friend and occasionally we would see him around in the city and follow him on our bikes. Lol... until next year Babel!!!!

Acts 20:24

There is a place where instead of churches on every street there are temples. Instead of Bibles there are spirit houses. Instead of God there is nothing. Instead of light there is darkness.

So I know I couldn't have done anything more important this summer than to bring the light of the Holy Spirit to Thailand. There were lots of hard days. But the Lord blessed us and saw His ministry through. I believe one reason He brought me to Asia was to encourage the Thai Christians that are always living in the dark. They showed me what real faith is. I learned to take up my cross every day and carry it because life is really about Acts 20:24. "I consider my life worth nothing to me, if only I may finish the race and complete the task The Lord Jesus has given me, the task of testifying to the gospel of God grace."

Miscommunication is our middle name

This week in Long, we had some fun at a "waterfall."  Some girls that have been learning English from us asked us to go with them to a waterfall, shopping, and eating. We were so excited to go with them, but when we got there, we were actually at a hot spring!!! We had a blast though! We got to boil some eggs and eat them. We also wanted to go shopping, so they took us to a Tesco Lotus, which is basically a grocery store!! After we walked around a little while, we told them we wanted to do different shopping like for clothes, so we got back in the truck and went to a fashion store. This store was on of those stores that had no sizes above size 4!! Needless to say our communication methods have not gotten much better since we got here!

The Lord will always provide!!

It is rainy season in Thailand, but in Nan, it has not rained any! This week at church, the youth wanted to pray for rain because their parents are farmers. God provided us with rain that very day!! We were so happy to rejoice in an answered prayer!! We were spending time with one of our Christian friends and her family when it started raining, and we were able to share with her Buddhist mother because of the rain!!!  God is working in Mighty ways here in Nan.  Please keep praying for God to move in and through these people!

Kari in... Thailand

Just spent a fun past two days with two of our Nehemiah Teams here in Phrae, Thailand! Yesterday I spent time with a team of two girls in a nearby village at the home of their host family having wonderful conversation and enjoying some good Thai food. Today, I got a crazy tour of Phrae City via motorbike with two of our guys... visiting with people, playing badmitten, and sharing the Gospel.

Pray for these two teams as they develop relationships and make disciples so that missionaries and Thai believers can start a church.

Catching up with the N Thai Team

This past week was another successful one for the Northern Thai Challenge team!! In Long, we hosted a movie night, where we showed an evangelical movie in the northern Thai language. We had about 25 kids interested in learning more about God.  We invited them back over the next day. We are loving life in Thailand!!!!
This past week we had some fun at the local school.
Alex rode his bike in "slow motion."
We were taught how to sit like Thai people.
And we spent a day with local youth groups.

N Thai: Nan Team

Our host mom has shown us around the city the last few weeks and introduced us to many of her friends. One of our new friends is beginning to accept the gospel and understand why there is only one true God for everyone! It is super encouraging for us and our host mom!!! We will just keep riding our bikes around everyday and meeting new people at the coffee shops and giving them spoonfuls of Jesus!!!

Please pray that God will reveal Himself to the people of Nan.
Pray that He will reveal the people of peace to us as we make friends in the city!!

Love in Christ,
Jenna and Krissy

Why do tigers make good Christians?

Because they prey without ceasing...

It's not every day that you get to snuggle with a tiger....
But there is nothing cooler than showing off our muscles with a tiger!!!
Except for our supervisors... We are so happy to be a part of the family now!!!

With Him, We Can

We made it to Thailand with no complications, which is an answered prayer!
We were so happy when we arrived
BUT we were very tired!!!
The rainbow was so beautiful on the drive to Phrae.
In Thailand, we see elephants instead of cows!

We enjoyed some great worship before Bible study one morning.
We loved sitting through a whole church service and only understanding one word! Only 1!
We will be three separate teams to reach out to more people. The vision for Northern Thai Christians is 20/20! By 2020, the goal is to have a Christian population of 1 million!!!
With Him, I can.
With Him, you can.
With Him, we can!
Another goal held by a Thai Christian is to have a church planted in every sub-district. All things are possible, when we believe.

Please continue to pray for God to break our hearts for these lost people in Northern Thailand. Also pray that we can be an encouragement to the Christians now. Thank you for your prayers! Trust us, they are much appreciated, especially when you pray for the heat!

Love in Christ,
N Thai Team

Northern Thai arrival

Just a quick note to let you know the team made it safe and sound. They had a good, uneventful trip, and even slept some on the plane. I picked them up at the airport at 3 PM and we traveled 3 hours by van to our final destination. I tried desperately to keep them awake through a meal and then got them to bed by 8:30 PM. They were exhausted, but thrilled to be here and can’t wait to see how God will work in them this summer.

Thank you for allowing them to come and for all that you did to get them here. Continue to pray for quick adjustment to the environment, culture, host families. Pray we will all be close to the Lord and follow Him to discover people who are ready to hear the Gospel and respond in faith.

In Him,

M & L
