LMCO Week of Prayer: Day 8

The big outreach event was almost here. Plans had been made and prayer supporters engaged. South Asian believer Abel was leading the efforts for a widespread gospel outreach to a largely unreached district. But COVID-19 disrupted the plans. Transportation to the region shut down and the event had to be cancelled.

But Abel didn’t feel like God was canceling the efforts. He sensed the Lord saying he should focus on a community closer to home. Read more...

LMCO Week of Prayer: Day 7

On another sunny day in northern Uganda, Hector steps into the river and turns to extend his hand to Oketa Robert, a new believer. Oketa Robert walks into the water, ready to take the next step of faith and be baptized.
He is one of 34 believers baptized on this day in early spring. Each new follower of Jesus is a refugee from the Rhino Camp Refugee Settlement. Read more...

LMCO Week of Prayer: Day 6

Bibles lay open amid the food wrappers on the fast-food restaurant table. The two men sat quietly discussing a key concept in Christianity — Jesus rising from the dead.

“WHAT? NO WAY!” the college student from Uzbekistan exclaimed and grabbed one of the Bibles. “Did he fly or something?”  Read more...

LMCO Week of Prayer: Day 5

Everyone in the small church wondered if the baptism was ever going to happen. In this Central Asian city visited by thousands of tourists each year, the delays kept stacking up.

Delay one: A new believer fell through a double-paned glass sliding door, landing him in the hospital.

Delay two: The pool overflowed, flooding everything around it. Read more...

Continuing on...

It's hard to believe that our month on Camiguin is coming to a close. As we prepare to leave, Pray for our local partners to continue what we have started here, becoming front-liners in advancing the Kingdom of God and the Gospel of Jesus in a place where Catholic strongholds and traditions have been rooted for too long.

We ask that you continue to pray for the team’s good health, wisdom, protection, and guidance. May we continue to be effective witnesses to the lost and never lose sight of the works that God wants us to do.

School Daze

We've been able to spend some time in the local schools, sharing with the students & teachers. Pray for our school ministry to grow & for more students to come to know Christ... becoming the LIGHT bearers to their families and friends.

LMCO Week of Prayer: Day 4

Olga wanted to go to church for years, but her husband forbade it. He didn’t believe in God and didn’t want his family dabbling in a faith he understood to be false.

After Russia invaded Ukraine in the spring of 2022, Olga, her daughters and grandchildren fled and were welcomed at the border of Moldova by Christians from Dancu Baptist Church in Dancu, Moldova. Read more...

LMCO Week of Prayer: Day 3

Across the 2,000 inhabited islands of more than 7,600 that make up the Philippines, is a vast spiritual darkness. People are not only trapped by the islands, but trapped in their sin — separated from God because many have not yet heard the life-saving gospel. Read more...

LMCO Week of Prayer: Day 2

Word spread quickly in this North African town. A medical clinic arrived, and anyone is welcome. Setting up in a local church gave some people pause, but free healthcare is hard to turn down.
Security guards sent by the local government wander close by. They are used to keeping a close watch on activities hosted by Christians. Read more...

True Thankfulness

We were able to celebrate Thanksgiving with local friends, teaching them about who we are thankful to- JESUS, as well as the company workers! It was amazing for us to have fellowship with believers and also share our culture with nationals.

Our local night market trips have been successful for meeting people, but that doesn’t come without the struggle of the language barrier. A few of us have been taking language classes and have been slowly understanding and translating. Pray that the Father would continue to supply us with the strength to carry on and the boldness to share!

LMCO Week of Prayer: Day 1

In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth and everything in them. And it was good, until it wasn’t. Since those fateful moments in the garden, creation has suffered the consequences of sin while humanity has perished, living a hope-deprived life far from God. But God, in His grace, made redemption possible through Jesus Christ. And through His gospel we declare that the lost are found, dead are brought to life and hope is renewed. Read more...

A Church Home

Please pray for our host, Nanay L. Pray that she will take a stand in her faith despite the persecution & opposition she has been facing for allowing us to stay with her. Nanay L is really a blessing to us and we witness how God is revealing to her the truth of Jesus and the Bible. We are praying the Lord will use her home as the start of a church in this village.

LMCO Week of Prayer... Join us!!

We pray for missions around the world

Every day, 157,690 people enter eternity without the hope of Jesus. Please join us for the next 8 days as we observe the Week of Prayer for International Missions, where Southern Baptists pray for IMB missionaries, their ministries and the unreached people and places they serve.

It's been our privilege to serve Southern Baptists as IMB missionaries in the Philippines since May 1993. You have been our lifeline for many years! From the vehicle we drive, to the homes we've lived in, to the education our kids received, to the resources used to purchase Bibles & training materials... YOU have been our partner in reaching the Philippines and beyond with the Good News of Jesus Christ. It's true... the greatest problem in our world is LOSTNESS. We are thankful there is more LIGHT in the Philippines because you give & you pray for us. Thank you for your partnership!

A Band of Beauties

One language center, six followers of Christ putting their yes on the table. The Father has sent us to an unforgettable place with unforgettable people. He has taught us much about His character, His love for His creation, and His longing for the lost to know Him!

We came in not knowing much about the culture or language and had a difficult time adjusting the first week. We were (and still are) experiencing spiritual warfare in ways we had not yet known. We had a heavy burden for the lost. We were not familiar with the local religion and had a difficult time sharing with the people. Seeing silhouettes of people dressed in orange walking down the parkway in the early morning, broke our hearts. But the Father’s heart is also broken over their lostness. So we must step out and share the greatest story ever told!

We came here to be servants of the local team by helping in their English classes, planning future events, and meet any and every need that we were able. We have used much transportation, tuk tuks, to travel the city to many coffee shops and the night market. We have begun relationships with local friends in hopes that soon we could share the Father’s story with them!

Pray for the friendships we have started... pray we will be able to introduce them to the local team so they can continue the relationships.

Immediate Prayer Opportunity!!

Please join us in praying...

We are hosting a Christmas event tomorrow (Saturday, local time) at the center. We are hoping everyone who comes will get to hear the Good News in some way in each room. We're asking for prayer that whoever the Father sends to us, that their hearts & minds are softened to hearing all that He wants us to share.

Please pray for us & the local team... that we'll get everything prepared on time and that we'll be patient & joyful throughout it all!

Update from the NT365 guys

Three of the NT365 Gap Year students, all guys, were deployed to nearby Southeast Asia country. Read some updates from their last couple weeks of ministry:

We found 2 groups of young people & have been getting to know them really well. We have shared the truth/good news with them in all of its entirety. Many good, in-depth conversations have taken place. Pray that these seeds will continue to be nurtured & grow, bearing much fruit.

We've also been hanging out at a night market. We have met many people through this opportunity & had multiple follow up appointments with customers. Pray that we would view each of these "appointments" as divine appointments to share Truth.

Soccer is a popular local sport so we've started playing indoor soccer with a group of men. We plan to meet with them again before we leave & share the Good News with them. Pray for boldness as we share the greatest story every told.

On top of all this, we have formed a close relationships with the manager of a local coffee shop. We're meeting with him on a regular basis, giving him English lessons. Through these lessons we have read the Word, watched a Jesus film, & had many deep discussions about the Truth. Pray for a thirst to develop that can only be quenched by the Living Water.

Camiguin... the island born of fire!

L to R: Roy, Liza, Ace, Max & Samuel
Three of the AOT International participants were deployed to the island of Camiguin for the month of November. Ace, Samuel and Max with their national partners, Liza & Roy have spent the past few weeks going house to house, sharing the Good News.

The team is currently focused on Village M which has a population of 995 people (as of 2020).  They are focusing on sharing the Gospel and conducting home Bible studies with those who are interested. This village has no evangelical church. Most of its residents are devoted Roman Catholics.. but thank God for His amazing work! We were able to connect with persons of peace and houses of peace... having regular Bible studies with most of them.

On the 3rd week in the area, the team is praying that thru God’s help and guidance, the beginnings of a house church will be started.

Pray for true fruit that will remain from the Bible studies being conducted. Pray for believers who will stand firm in their new faith & be committed to continue to meet together.

Down on the farm... part 2

The Mindanao Baptist Rural Life Center (MBRLC) Foundation Incorporated is based in the southern part of the Philippines. It is a Christian approach to countryside development. It is a non-profit private volunteer organization supported by Christian churches in the Philippines and other parts of the world. One practical way of helping develop the countryside is through training courses on simple yet practical farming technologies and health strategies.

Home for NT365 Gap Year students since the end of August has been the MBRLC. Living & learning in one of the houses on the facility has become "home." The week of Oct 10-14 was spent learning more about the training that takes place at MBRLC. Getting an understanding of how these training methods can be applied to ministry in local communities was the focus of the week. Mornings were spent in lectures & afternoons were "hands on", participating in the work they'd learned about throughout the morning sessions.

I learned just how important it is to meet people's physical needs as well as their spiritual needs... and how to do that productively.
-Hayden

I learned so much of a new form of ministry... how to help people in a practical survival way through farming & sharing the Gospel. I loved getting to make a little plant from the soil & a banana leaf!
-Darla Ray

I enjoyed learning about different kinds of agricultural technology that will help get willing Christians into areas to reach & teach the lost.
-Morgan

Community Development is not only helping & building people but also giving them the tools to improve their lives. It takes love to reach out & touch lives.
-Acey

My favorite thing about "farm week" was the SALT technology. I was amazed at how it is possible to create a sustainable organic farm as inexpensively as possible. I loved the enthusiasm of the trainers & how they always had interactive & practical activities for us to do after each lesson.

I am so thankful for the passion, joy & willingness of the Director & trainers on the farm for showing us in just a week what their day-to-day life is like. My favorite day, of course, was being able to milk & nurture the goats!
-Abby

Farm week was by far the best week of AOT. We learned how to best provide for the physical & spiritual needs of people in this area & all across Southeast Asia. It's definitely going int he tool box to further God's Kingdom!
-John David

My favorite things about "farm training" week was the activity we did for community development. We took the villages we have been in for the past 2 months & created a plan of how to effectively encourage development from start to finish.

Urgency & Hunger

I've learned so much about weekend ministry. Last weekend my teammate & I were sharing the Gospel with a lady from a local cult. Standing behind her was an older man who did not speak English. After sharing the Gospel with no translator, the older man asked us in His language if we could give him the Scripture references. I didn't have any paper but the man took out a pen and was ready to write the references on his arm. His eyes were filled with urgency and hunger for the Word of God. This opened my eyes to how powerful the Word of God is & how He works.

To Freely Share the Gospel

My favorite part from weekend ministry is being able to share the gospel house to house and lead Bible studies. I love how we get to meet new people, connect with them, share with them & fellowship with them.
It has always been an inspiration of mine to freely share the Gospel with people... and I get to train & practice that on the weekends, overcoming my timidity and nervousness to tell others about the best news & greatest story in the world, the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Learning something new!!

What do you do when the missionary kids from Hawaii come to AOT?? Learn the hula, of course! Thankful for our team mates, Philip & Ashleigh Irwin and their girls visiting AOT this week. Philip & Ashleigh shared how the Lord is working in their lives & where their journey has taken them so far. They also talked with the NT365 participants about options for their Hands On assignments during the spring semester... needless to say, they are excited about the opportunities!

Hearing God's Truth

Being out & doing ministry on the weekends has been amazing! The best part is listening to what God wants me to do & doing it. However small it may seem it has always turned into someone who hears God's truth!!

NT365: What I've learned these first three weeks....

Carport class during the afternoon rain
AOT is making me realize that most people won't respond to the Great Commission because we consider our life too valuable for God's disposal.
-Ace

I have learned how to do a better job of "picking up my cross daily." I've also learned that the more I follow Jesus, the more challenges I face. Bit I can face them with a joyful heart, knowing that it is making me more "mature and complete, not lacking anything." (James 1:2-4)
-Ty

Body bags... are you truly willing to say, "Make me a vessel, make me an offering. Make me whatever you want me to be." I am learning about giving up my life to Christ & learning ways to better share & know the Gospel.
-Max

"3 Circles" practice
Even though I am weak & will fail, God can still use me. It is not me, but Him working through me.
-Ragyn

This past weekend I witnessed God not only work in my team but I got to witness 9 young men accept Christ and come to Bible studies after we shared the Gospel through the Bridge tract which we'd learned over the last couple weeks.
-Abby

NT365: What I've learned these first 3 weeks....

God can use different personalities & people for the good of His kingdom. God is doing things. Not only is He changing the hearts of those we share the Gospel with... but God is changing OUR hearts.
-Morgan

Grace is so abundant & great that one can see it, feel it, smell it, and even hear it. Grace is bound in the very fabric of our reality & being... and God is the giver of such grace.
-Hayden

I have realized the important of an intimate relationship with God in order to hear His voice. I have been encouraged & inspired to know how mightily God can use any person who completely surrenders his life to the Lord.
-Samuel

Best 3 week of my life!!! The Holy Spirit has opened my eyes & ears to what He is trying to tell me. Daily reliance on God for everything... my prayer life has improved dramatically!!
-John David

AOT has reminded me that having a long view of your life is important--- and those small obedience checks are there to strengthen and guide me.
-Katherine
