Meet the Team: P52 Toronto

Caitlen is a music education major at Delta State University in Mississippi. She enjoys using her musical ability to glorify and honor the Lord and invite others to worship. She is hands-down the greatest pillow fighter the world has ever seen. She adds a lot of character to Ole’ Canada!

Jake is entering his junior year at the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) and is studying electrical engineering. He is obviously the brains of the operation and is always the voice of reason the Lord has strategically placed among this group of otters. He is a guitar enthusiast and often serenades us with melodious sounds both day and night.

Katy studies Christian ministry at Blue Mountain College in Mississippi. She adds the spice to our life! We always know when she is not around because it is way too quiet! She is bold and authoritative. Katy goes to battle each day for the Lord and for her team. The land of moose and maple syrup was not ready for this firecracker but she was certainly ready for it!

Coty studies Christian ministry at Blue Mountain College in Mississippi. He is a lover of new cultures, new people, and new food! Coty has found great joy in this endeavor. 

Meet the Team: CrossFit Language Students

Carter is going into his final year at Ohio State, where he studies public policy and economics. He served with NT in the Philippines last year, and has a passion for sharing the Gospel with hard to reach people. 

Hannah is our seasoned team leader who grew up in the Middle East as an MK. She is fluent in Arabic and is our cultural expert for the summer. She studies art at Columbus State and just finished her second year. 

James also served with NT in the Philippines last year where he developed a heart for the Filipino people. He studies communications at Southern Miss and is excited to learn to share the Gospel in a Muslim context. 

Amber is a physical education teacher from Louisiana & is our team CrossFit expert. When she's not kicking butt at the gym, she loves cooking and outdoor adventures. She is excited to see the work God is doing overseas and is eager to be part of his kingdom expansion in any way she can. 

Meridyth is a senior international studies & religion major at Baylor, and has a heart for the Middle East. She served with NT in Indonesia last summer and is eager to continue to learn how to disciple believers and share with unreached people groups. 

Please pray for team unity, strength, and boldness. We will be in a very spiritually dark  area so your continued prayers are greatly appreciated!

Names.
You never can force an nickname.

It just doesn't work.

Doc Holiday

I thought this was an appropriate nickname for Colt. I still stand by that. But it didn't stick. 

When referencing a time in his life when he lived in the Western side of Texas, he will conjoin the West and Texas into "westexas." Chris and I took notice. We have now parodied that phrase so much that now it sounds something along the lines of "Worcestershire." So you can now call Colt "Westexas" (pronounced Wesh-teksh-ish)

Laughtrack

I thought it was a good name for Chris. But alas, you cannot predict the fickle way of nicknames. We met a 'stralian man by the name of Nathaniel, who, not only made it difficult to not speak like an Aussie, he made it difficult to not repeat everything back at him in a terrible Aussie accent that he no doubt thought was offensive at some points. Nathaniel met Chris. Nathaniel found out that Chris had packed a lifetime supply of protein powder for this trip. I'm serious. He might as well have checked a separate bag for his protein powder. Nathaniel thought this was hilarious. After hearing an Aussie man yell "Powda" for 3 days, we couldn't help but follow suit. 

Ace

The nickname I could only dream of. Given to me one day while throwing a frisbee on the soccer field; lanky arms and legs flailing about, making weird sounds, and generally being a sight, the team decided I had a lot in common with Ace Ventura. I'm not complaining. I love the nickname. We'll see if it sticks, won't we.

Meet the Team: Mountain Harvesters

Naasha, Kyle, Tee & Raven

After getting some much needed rest on the 14 hour plane ride to our first stop, our adventure began! We've ridden everything from motorcycles and tricycles to jeepneys and boats to get to our final destination. As our team leader, Tee, has said, "We got thrown into the deep end without a floatie." We've got four members in total and we would like you to get a chance to get to know us as best you can this summer.

Tee (21) has had some mission experience earlier in his life due to his family of 7 kids moving to Honduras and Costa Rica.  This is his first time being a team leader and taking on the responsibilities that fit that bill.  He is currently attending Clemson University in South Carolina, and is going for a major in Turf Grass Management (yes, it's a real major).  

Raven (21) has been to Africa twice on mission and has said she feels God is calling her to the field full-time. She is from South Carolina and is attending Liberty University in Virginia for a major in Youth Ministry. She is also minoring in Global Studies and enjoys sports like volleyball and soccer in her down time. She is looking forward to sharing all kinds of stories with her little brother when she gets back home. 

Natasha (20) has never been on mission before but is excited about what this summer holds for her and her spiritual growth.  She is going to East Central University in her home state of Oklahoma.  She is pursuing a degree in Social Work with hopes of working with teens that have mental health disorders.  She has had to face two of her biggest fears while being here so far; spiders and letting her food touch on the same plate. 

And lastly, me! My name is Kyle (19) and this is my first time answering the call to take God's Word overseas.  I am really looking forward to seeing what God has in store for me as I go out and see what direction my life is going when I get back.  I am currently going to Francis Marion University in South Carolina for a degree in Mass Communication.  I have two little brothers and a little sister that I can't wait to bring back stories to in the States. 

Also, we have very limited capabilities when it comes to using these computers so we most likely wont be able to upload any pictures.  You'll be the first to know if that changes! We look forward to letting you be a part of this journey with us for the remainder of the summer!

Meet the Team: Multinational Advance

Aun yeong hase yo! Susaday! 

Hello from the Multinational Advance Team in Korean and Khmer! We are beyond excited for the opportunity to do ministry in two different countries this summer. 

The beginning of our trip is being spent in South Korea having orientation with our 3 Korean teammates and teaching ESL to refugees. On July 1st, we will travel to and spend the remainder of our time in Cambodia doing children's ministry, campus evangelism, and continuing to teach ESL as a means to share the Gospel. 

We are excited to introduce to you our team, so you can know a little about the individuals you are reading about and praying for a little better! In total we are a team of 6: 3 Tennesseans and 3 South Koreans! 

I am Kara, the team leader, and call Huntingdon, TN home. I am a Junior studying Social Work at Austin Peay State University. I love traveling, "crafting", my grandmother's homemade rolls, and any Disney movie! My favorite verse is Philippians 1:6, and I am most excited about being able to share the Good News alongside others from a different culture. 

Next up is Jadyn! Jadyn is from Chattanooga, TN. She is majoring in Spanish and minoring in Education at University of Tennessee @ Chattanooga.  Her favorites include playing piano and guitar, blueberries, and "A Walk to Remember". Phil. 1:20-21 are her favorite verses, and she is most excited about building relationships with our Korean teammates. 

Third on our team is Garrett! He calls Johnson City, TN. home and is studying Economics at East Tennessee State University. Garrett is a fan of hunting, fishing, steak ("he would be a carnivore before being a vegetarian"), and "Hacksaw Ridge". Hebrews 4:12 is his favorite verse, and he is most excited about sharing the Gospel with unreached people groups.

Next up is Gwanjung! Gwanjung is 37 and has his Masters of Divinity from Korea Baptist Seminary. He has been our tour guide as we navigate Korea (so thankful for him!)

5th is Dasia! Dasol is majoring in dance at Seoul Christian University! She is 21 years old and will be teaching dance as part of our ministry in Cambodia. She is still finishing up her semester, so please pray for her to finish strong!

Last but not least is Gwanun! Gwanun is 19 and studying Social Welfare. He just finished his first semester of college and enjoys "gaming". 

We ask that you please pray for team unity, easy communication between our team as we work on our Korean and they work on their English, safe travels to our second country, for us to be bold, fearless, and full of the Holy Spirit as we share the truth with unbelievers, and specifically for open ears and hearts to the Gospel message!

Meet the team! We are Cody, RaeAnn, Sondra & Cody and our translators are Evelyn & Tim. We are Preach, Heal and Hoops Team B. We are from Tennessee, Mississippi, Florida, and Arkansas. We are serving in the Philippines this summer doing street ministry and helping at a local health care clinic. Please pray that God would move in this place!

We have three ladies on this team... Emily, Jessica and Anna.  

• Emily is from South Dakota and she is a student in a college in California working on finishing her Bachelor's in Intercultural Studies. 
• Jessica is from Tennessee and she is working on Master's in New Orleans, Louisiana. 
• Anna is from Mississippi and she finished her associates this past spring and will transfer to another college to finish her Bachelor's in Elementary Education. 

Something in common with us all is that we all love people and want to serve them in any way we can. We all also love coffee and spending time with people to make friendships blossom.

Meet the team: Coffee Club

Hello!
Five days of orientation, five airports, and two days of plane rides the Coffee Team has safely made it to our destination. We arrived during the day time so we were able to get adjusted pretty well easily. We've been overseas for about two weeks so we figured it's time to introduce ourselves.

Taylor, Woo, Caleb & Chandler

Caleb is from Alabama. He just finished his freshmen year Auburn University. He is studying International Business, and was a part time barista during his school year.
Chandler is our team leader. He is from Oregon, he just finished his sophomore year at LSU studying finance. He is also a barista.
Taylor is from Alabama. He goes to Southeastern Bible College. Taylor is also a professional roater.
Woo is from South Korea, goes to University of North Carolina at Charlotte and is studying Economics. He has no experience in the coffee industry but is a big lover of caffeine.

So far in our journey. We've enjoyed waking up early, admiring the beauty of our Father's handiwork, reading, and doing some team-time. During the day, we like to walk around town, finding new restaurants (we found this one amazing coffee shop that we've been going to almost every day) and try to find locals that speak good English. During the evening, our team separates and teaches English classes. The ages varies from 12-25 year olds in various English levels. And finally, before bed time we enjoy more team-time, sharing about daily 'high-lows'.

We've also been blessed to experience the coffee culture here. Connecting personally with people that grow/sell/roast coffee in our country.

1. Hey ya'll! My name is Lindsay. I am from the good ole state of South Carolina. I am crazy enough to study math and foolish enough to love it! If you hang around me, be prepared for random Karaoke moments because if there is a song about it, I'm sure to sing it!

2. Hello my name is Lillie, I am from Dothan, Alabama and currently attending Judson College. I am majoring in History and Criminal Justice and a minor in Political Science. I play softball at Judson and I start my senior season this fall. I have only broken 2 bones due to this sport!!

3.Hey y'all this is Molly. I am from Alabama. I am studying to teach Elementary Education. I am a lover of Jesus, coffee, singing, and laughing.

4. Hey my name is Desiree. I am 24 years old. I am currently a senior studying Intercultural Studies and Psychology. I plan to use my degrees to work within the ministry in whatever way the Lord wills. Right now I am a children's minister at my home church. I was blessed with a huge personality. I love children, old people, laughing, dancing, talking, and random trips. My life motto is "Not all who wonder are lost". Lastly my favorite color is Maroon/Burgundy and Gold.

Hi, my name is Lauren and I am 20 years old. I attend Tennessee Tech University and am Majoring in International Business with Minors in Spanish and Religious Studies. I felt called to the Philippines after hearing the testimony of a Filipino woman who said that she just needed someone to tell her the Gospel. She had never heard it! But when she heard the Gospel for the first time everything changed and the Lord had a grip on her heart. All she needed was a person there to share. I knew I had a summer to go and that I was able. God said we are to go and share the good news. I knew that this was my calling for this summer after she spoke.

My name is April and and am a 19 year old college sophomore from Kentucky! I am studying English Literature and Art at Eastern Kentucky University. Being here serving Christ in the Philippines has been such a blessing already. Last summer, I attended a camp with my church and understood that God commands His children to go and I felt the Lord calling me to international missions. I wasn't sure where or when this would happen, but after much prayer and guidance from my family, God lead me to Nehemiah Teams and softened my heart for the Philippines. My main prayer request at the moment is that Christ would sustain us and work through us so that unreached people can hear the gospel of Jesus Christ for the first time. Engage Cambodia: We Made It!

We have completed our first week in Cambodia. The Lord has shown His faithfulness to us so many times throughout the week. We teach English classes multiple times everyday. We teach at local schools, churches, and villages. It has been a joy to get to know the students and build relationships with them. We have already seen the Lord work through some relationships that have been placed here. Now to meet the team!

Tara: Tara is our Team Leader. She is from Florida and getting her Master's Degree in Mathematical Sciences. Her favorite color is orange, and she enjoys to play the guitar and drums. Her favorite Bible verse John 3:30.

Mikki: Mikki is from Mississippi and is about to be a senior while studying Spanish. Mikki's favorite color is purple, and her name is not really Mikki. (It is Fumiko). She enjoys to play the guitar and reading. Her favorite Bible verse is Romans 8:28.

Nathan: Nathan is from Alabama. He is currently undecided on his major, but is interested in international missions. His favorite color is sunset orange, and he is an Eagle Scout. Nathan enjoys spending time with people and doing the conga line. His favorite Bible verse is Job 12:10. 

Brian: Brian is from the back backwoods of North Carolina, but attends school in Montana. He is studying Paleontology, aka he loves dinosaurs. His favorite color is blue, and he saved a Colombian man from a raging North Carolina river. Brian enjoys drawing and singing in the shower. His favorite Bible verse is 1 Corinthians 15:58. 

Abbey: Abbey is from Missouri and attends school there while studying Special Education. Her favorite color is yellow or blue, and she has a pet skunk at home named Stanley. Abbey enjoys to journal and be outside. Her favorite Bible verse is Matthew 10:39. 

Alexa: Alexa is from Ohio, she attends school there and is majoring in Early Childhood Education. Her favorite color is lavender, and she once broke her arm on a blob. Alexa enjoys to read, knit, and be outside. Her favorite Bible verse is Esther 4:14.

Meet the Team: City Talk English Team

Amanda, Jordan, Noel, MaryKate, Jennifer, & Lauren

Sawada Ka! We are a team of six girls teaching English in Bangkok, Thailand this summer. Here is a short summary of each of us below!

1.   Jennifer grew up in Texas and is currently studying English at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. She aspires to teach English as a second language, help translate Scripture into unwritten languages, and work with those who are considered outcasts in society. The Scripture which encourages her most in this season of life is Isaiah 43:1, “Now this is what the Lord says- The one who created you, Jacob, and the one who formed you, Israel- Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; you are mine.”

2.   Amanda grew up in Arkansas and is currently studying political science and pre-law at Lyon College. She aspires to go to law school and work for the FBI. The Scripture that speaks to her most is Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

3.   Lauren (team leader) grew up in Mississippi and just graduated from Mississippi College with a degree in languages. She plans on attending seminary before moving abroad as a career missionary. A verse that has been really encouraging her lately is Philippians 3:12, “Not that I have already reached the goal or am already fully mature, but I make every effort to take hold of it because I also have been taken hold of by Christ Jesus.”

4.   Jordan is from South Carolina and currently studies in Wake Forest, North Carolina. She loves working with children and youth. In this season of life, Jordan has been learning a lot from 1 John 4:16-19, “And we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and the one who remains in love remains in God, and God remains in him. In this, love is perfected with us so that we may have confidence in the day of judgement, for we are as He is in this world. There is no fear in love; instead perfect love drives out fear, because fear involves punishment. So the one who fears has not reached perfection in love. We love because He first loved us.”

5.   MaryKate is from Arkansas and is studying English Education at Arkansas State University. She plans to teach English as a Second Language in a big city one day. A verse that has been encouraging to her recently is 2 Corinthians 12:15 “I will most gladly spend and be spent for the sake of your souls. If I love you more, am I to be loved less?”

6.   Noel is from the great state of South Carolina. She is currently a student at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in North Carolina. When she grows up, Noel desires to be a disciple maker. Recently, she has been thoroughly encouraged by Luke 18:26-27, which reads, “Those who heard it said, ‘Then who can be saved?’ But He said, ‘What is impossible with man is possible with God.’”

Please pray for the following:

• For our Thai students to recognize that what we are teaching them are not simply good stories but life-changing truths. This is only possible through the work of the Spirit.
• For the Thai people to recognize the futility of their idolatry. Pray they will realize that only Jesus can satisfy.

I’m the old man of the group, clocking in at 24 years. I’m currently a graduate student at Auburn University pursuing a master’s in Mechanical Engineering. I love a good salad (something the nationals here have no grasp of), and I’m an avid movie goer (so I’m really excited about the theaters here, because I’ve heard they have arm chairs and you can order food). I really appreciate your prayers this summer, especially for my mental and emotional endurance. I’m an introvert by nature, and I know this summer is really going to stretch me.

Hey my name is Cason. I am 21 years old. I am a Junior at Auburn University studying Political Science. I love sweets and junk food. I eat copious amounts of sugar. One thing I have learned in a few days of being on the field is that things do not go as easily as planned and so it is necessary to enjoy the time and have fun with whatever the situation is. This summer we will be serving in Cambodia in a school. We will be teaching English, Math, Science, Writing, and Bible stories. We have 8 classes a day with students who are very eager to learn. We are also building relationships with other school workers and students who live in dorms near us.  We hope to do a study with them soon. On Sundays we will spend the mornings in local villages doing Bible stories with the kids there and in the afternoon we will spend time in worship and fellowship with local Khmer people. We are loving our time here so far and look forward to all the new experiences and adventures ahead.

First of all, pray that we will have boldness as we move towards a place we don't know for a people we don't know. 

Pray also that, as we do so, we will stay humble and faithful to the work God has prepared for us.  We want to remain close to God in every step of the way to do His work most effectively.

Meet the Team: Island Castaways

After some wonderful plane rides, and some waiting, we finally made it to our port city!  We are scheduled to take our boat ride to the island God is calling us to tomorrow, weather permitting.  We are absorbing the culture and getting to know the way of life here.  As we get to know the people here, we want you to get to know us.

Evan, Hunter, Mac & Bryson

Bryson is 23 and serving in his first overseas mission trip.  He is planning on starting nursing school in the fall semester, Lord willing.  He is from Mississippi and has two younger siblings.  Pray that Bryson will lead with wisdom, grace, and a servant's heart.

Hunter is 19 and also serving in the Philippines for the first time.  He wants to continue his education at SMCC and then possibly attend Seminary.  He is also from Mississippi and has one younger sister.  Pray that Hunter will go into the field with courage and boldness.

Evan is also 19 and flew on a plane for the first time during this trip!   He wants to continue his education at SMCC and then possibly attend Seminary.  He is from Mississippi  and has one younger sibling.  Pray that Evan would seek God's will above all else and will have the courage and wisdom to follow it.

Mac is 20 and is serving in the Philippines for the first time on his first mission trip.  He plans on continuing his education at Purdue University and then Seminary or the Mission field full time.  Mac has four brothers and lives in Indiana.  Pray that God will give Mac the words to say and the heart to connect with the people here in the Philippines.

Meet the Team: Heartweavers 2017

Sawaadee-ka from Thailand! We are the Heartweavers team, and this summer we will be serving in a red light district in Northern Thailand. We will be teaching English classes and looking for opportunities to share the Gospel with women in the city. Here are the members of our team:

Abbey is studying Speech Pathology at the University of Mississippi. She is from Raymond, Mississippi. Abbey loves shopping, trying new foods, making people laugh, and spending time with family and friends. Her birthday is on July 6, and she is excited to spend it in Thailand! Her focal verse for the summer is 2 Corinthians 4:6.

Anna is studying Marriage and Family Counseling at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. She is from Mt. Olive, Alabama. Anna loves hand-lettering, singing, gelato, and hot tea. Anna's focal verse for the summer is Psalm 72:14.

Kenzie is studying English as a Second Language at the University of Memphis. She is from Atoka, Tennessee. Kenzie loves guacamole, coffee dates, quoting movies, singing her feelings, and fan-girling over Drew and Ellie Holcomb. Her focal verse for the summer is Isaiah 61:1.

Mallory (team leader) is studying Accounting at Mississippi College. She is from Monticello, Arkansas. She loves to read, watch romantic comedies, send snail mail and drink coffee with friends. Her focal verse for the summer is Acts 26:18.

We have spent the last few days in orientation with the ministry that we are working with this summer. 

• Pray that we will be able to start English classes and form relationships with women in the city.
• Pray for boldness and opportunities to share the Gospel with them. 
• Pray for endurance as we serve throughout the summer.

Meet the Team: Lovin' and Learnin' Team

Hello readers! We are the Kids Lovin' and Learnin' Team and we will be serving this summer at a Children's Home in the Philippines. Here is our team:

Emily, Roxy & Alex

Emily lives in central Texas where she studies recreational therapy. Her favorite color is orange. Emily is most excited about hanging out with the children and learning more about her Filipino heritage.

Roxy is from southern Texas and is studying speech therapy. Her favorite color is blue. She is most excited about getting to know and invest in the children and being in a new culture.

Finally, I am Alex :) I am from Tennessee but go to school in Arkansas where I also study speech therapy. My favorite color is green. I am most excited to love the children and being back the Philippines for my second summer--bring on the rice and great treats!

Please pray open hearts of all of those we meet (children, social workers, house parents, and other volunteers) and that we represent Christ in all of our words and actions!
