2 Corinthians 4:7 ^"But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us."

After class, we have offered to have Bible study with each of our four classes. Out of about 100 students, 4 have shown much interest and stayed every day. Most days as soon as they see us they come rushing up to us asking if we will have Bible study--that is so exciting! After meeting several times and getting to know them very well, Emily and Janeth shared the difference in being spiritually alive and dead. And that day 3 of the 4 accepted Christ! Wow, praise God!!!!

The fourth student said she wasn't ready because she had too much sin. They explained that no one has too much sin. Please pray that she will understand that in her heart. Also pray we are able to disciple them as much as possible in the next week.

Lastly pray for the strength of our team. This week has been a very different kind of challenging but we know the Lord has a great plan.

Salvation is Here

One of our Filipino partners has been able to meet for a daily Bible study with a handful of students while the rest of our team go to school to teach English. Through that, 8 have come to know the Lord! Praise and Glory to Him.

Last Wednesday, we were able to go with these students to the beach because they had no school. We were told were going with us and it ended up being 10-wow! Then we got to the beach and shared about baptism (we knew 2 were going to) then we opened it to any of them who wanted to after we double and tripled checked that they understood faith is what saves and not good works so we baptized 3. WOW!

The ocean may have been very littered but they have all been washed by the blood of the Lamb. To Him be the Glory forever and ever!

This week continue to pray for the believer, Melody, on the island. Her son is sick and needs further medical care. Please pray that the Great Physician heals him.

Spirit of Wisdom

I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know Him better.  Ephesians 1:17

Pray for team members to immerse themselves in the Word of God. Pray that the Holy Spirit would grant them wisdom and understanding as they search the Scriptures to know God more fully.

He Calls All People

The Lord truly does call all people to himself. Here in Tingloy, the Lord has saved a young woman named Mary Jane and an older woman named Gloria. These two stories of faith alone in Christ alone are His perfect will revealed.

As my team and I were sharing the Gospel with Mary Jane, the Spirit moved in her heart to repent from her sins and believe in Jesus as her Savior and Lord! For Gloria, the good news of Jesus was nothing short of clarity and complete understanding. She told us how false beliefs and teaching had tried to steer her away from the Lord Jesus, but Gloria remained steadfast in her faith.

His grace and mercy continues to call all people like Mary Jane and Gloria. The Lord is transforming lives and revealing His perfect love to the people of Tingloy. God's word says that [He] desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. (1 Timothy 2:4) May we continue to pray earnestly and fervently for all people.

His Timing

After several weeks of being onn Tingloy, we have been able to really get to know many people. Because of that we have been able to share Christ with them more directly without them shutting us out.

We have prayed daily for softened hearts because many are extremely hardened due to many coming to share. There has been several times this week we would go to meet with someone and they wouldn't be available for various reasons.

This summer the Lord is teaching us all patience and to trust His timing because His is perfect. (Ec 3:1). Through this trial we have been able to talk with more people that live near us and we pass quite often but never had the chance to share with.

We know God opens and closes doors for a reason and we are trusting in His plan. Please pray for salvation and continue to soften the hearts of those we meet- even the tourists we get to meet.

God is on the Move

Wow... June has already come and gone. The Lord has blessed us in so many ways--good health, many laughs, relationships both young and old, and we have met a BELIEVER!!!!

Our Filipino supervisor was out one day telling people why we are on the island and that we are not Jehovah Witnesses. He met a lady named Melody. H came back after lunch and told just a small piece of her story and we couldn't wait to meet her. After several attempts, we were able to. Her sister married a pastor and that is how the she heard the Good News. However, she is married to an unbeliever and he often makes fun of her for worshiping. We asked if she tries to share her faith and others often make fun r her, too. She & her extended family have prayed for many years for other believers to come and start a church. She is so thirsty for fellowship and teachings from the Bible.

Please pray we can encourage her and pour into her as much as possible in the coming weeks. Also pray for salvation for her husband and from there they can be leaders in starting a Bible believing church.

Hope for the Hopeless

The Kapitana of our barangay (village) has been so kind and dear to our hearts since we have arrived on Tingloy Island. We have been praying for an opportunity to share the truth of the Gospel with her. Our prayers were answered. Kapitana told us about her life as a single mother, the hardships she has faced, and the challenges of being a Barangay Captain. She told us about how she cannot show her weaknesses or struggles to her children because she must remain strong for them. In her hopelessness, the Kapitana finds some relief in crying out to God. She said everyone comes to her with their problems, but she has no one to lean on. We were able to share the Gospel with her. 

Pray her heart would be open to truth as we continue to share with her; she is still trusting in good works for salvation. 
Pray she would know Christ is the source of hope and healing in the midst of her brokenness.

Busy Bees

School has started and so has English class. We have loved meeting so many students and their families. Their kindness and generosity is incredible. We also had the opportunity to go with about 12 students to the beach and have a testimony time.

One of the teens we have made friends with is the president of her youth group of a different faith. She has all the head knowledge of the gospel but she doesn't know for sure if she is going to heaven.

Another teen we have met is another young lady of pure Joy. She lives in a boarding house because she lives far from the school. We hope to take the gospel to her home place.

Please pray for understanding that good works isn't enough to make it to heaven;  as well as, the chance to visit other places on the island to share the gospel.

Meeting and Greeting

Tingloy is filled with such kind people. They are all so welcoming and patient with us learning Tagalog. We have stuck up a friendship with the Kapitana in our Barangay. She is like a mother and makes sure we have all that we need.

This past week we in the mornings, we have taught a bible story and played games with the local children. Oh what a joy they are. We have learned several new games and they pick flowers for us almost everyday.In the afternoons, we met up with several teens to practice English through the reading of the bible. Friendships are starting to form and it is a daily reminder that God's has a plan for each of their lives.

Please pray for more opportunities to meet and share with our neighbors the love of a having a relationship with Christ as well as the students have great first week of school.

Climbing to New Heights

Up the mountain we shall go (literally). A few of the teens we had met offered to take us to the top of a mountain one morning so we jumped on the opportunity to get to know them better.After much sweat we made it. Boy was it worth it. It was an awesome reminder of how great of an artist God is. We could see for many miles both the sea and mountains which was something several of us had never seen together except in pictures.

God is good all the time and all the time God is good. Prayer this week for the English lessons that we will teach. We are praying specifically to quickly form relationships with students in other Barangay. This would enable us to share the Good News with them. They live far from the pier in which people come to share but since they don't live close they are less likely to hear. And we want and pray we can tell them the hope of Christ.

Extraordinary Manifestions

Stretch out your hand to heal and perform miraculous signs and wonders through the name of your holy servant Jesus. - Acts 4:30

God also testified to it by signs, wonders and various miracles, and gifts of the Holy Spirit distributed according to His will. - Hebrews 2:4

Pray for extraordinary manifestations of God working through and in the lives of team members. Pray that team members would utilize their spiritual gifts as they minister through the power of the Holy Spirit.

Meet the Team: Tropical Island Disciplemakers

Hello from Tingloy island! Our team consists of three Filipinos and three Americans.

• John Paul (JP) is from Batangas City and he is a teacher. His favorite color is black and he is most excited about fully surrendering and trusting God fully.
• Janeth is from Bantagas City and is studying education. Her favorite color is blue and she is most excited about learning more English and how God will work through us.
• Jordan will be joining us later in the week.
• Emily (team leader) is from Tennessee and is studying nursing. Her favorite color is purple and is most excited about building relationships with people on Tingloy and being able to share the gospel with them.
• Maritess is from Geogia and she is studying education with minor in English. Her favorite color is yellow and is excited about seeing how the Lord will use our team to further the gospel in reaching the Filipino people in Tingloy.
• Alex is from Tennesee and studying communication disorders. My favorite color is green and I am excited to learn more about Filipino culture and being able to love them like Christ.

Now that you know who we are let us tell you what we are doing and most importantly how you can pray!

We are here to tutor high school students in English. And through that be able to share Christ with then. We would greatly appreciate your prayer in the following areas this coming week.

• Building relationships with people both young and old 
• We are having English Bible story time and games with children ages 6-12. And going to beach Monday to get to know the older students that we pray will join our English tutoring once school starts next Monday.
• There is no church or known believers on the island. Pray for salvation then discipleship, baptism, and furtherance of His Kingdom
