It's Always Enough

Full homes, Rich discipleship, and Deep worship
These things have marked my time here In Uganda. Walking through extreme darkness to be greeted by six smiling women who genuinely desire to know God’s Word. Sitting in the homes of women who used to sell their bodies so their children could eat. These women smile joyfully because they now have pure, undefiled hope in Christ, who they want to know more about!!
The Gospel of Jesus Christ is always enough. The Word of God is always enough. Let us never shy away from proclaiming the hope that we have In Him and the sacrifice that He made on the cross for us. I am thankful, humbled and in awe of the Lord.

Last day with the kids

On Wednesday, we spent our last day with the kids. It was the most bittersweet feeling I have ever experienced. To see the love that the kids had for us, truly appreciating it as it was the last time, and seeing their faces drop when we reminded them that it was our last day was truly tough. That being said, it was a day full of smiles and hugs as we had the kids sign our shirt like true professionals.

Power over Spiritual Warfare

It was a moving experience spending our final few days with the kids. On Monday, we got the opportunity to visit and pray for some families and their homes. We gifted a Bible to a woman who told us that she had never had one in the house before. Then, we prayed for Grace and her home. She told us that she had been having visions and battling spiritual warfare, having trouble sleeping at night as she felt she was in danger. Since we visited her, she has reported great sleep and peace of mind.

Join us in praying for Grace to continue to experience victory in her personal life!

Proclamation results in decisions

Our team went out evangelizing on Saturday. We shared with around 20 people and saw three of them get saved. On Sunday morning, one of the men that we had witnessed to came for church and trusted in Christ during the church service.
  • Pray for continued growth in the lives of these who have chosen to trust in Christ.

Do you have an available heart?

Winkie Pratney said “God is looking for willing hearts. You do not have to be special. But you do have to be available.”

Our team has made so many new friends this week! We worked with a couple different churches from the Mainland and the Waipahu area. We have loved getting to know our new friends!!

We worked with a church in Waipahu, helping lead the missions portion of their VBS. They were so interactive and received our message so well. We had loads of fun!

Romans‬ ‭10‬:‭14‬ ‭says “How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching?”

When you look at the disciples, you see a variety of different men. They aren’t what WE would considered qualified. Most were uneducated, unconnected, and unnoticed. While I might have my own agenda for who I would choose as my disciples, Jesus saw something in these men. He saw their willingness to go. He saw their faith in boldness and selected them for the task.

We shared this with the students at the VBS, to show that anyone and everyone is called to go. We wanted to express that the only thing that “qualified” us to be a missionary was putting our "yes" on the table. We trusted that God had a plan and would use us!

Bittersweet moments in Zambia

6 salvation decisions! The Nehemiah Team did a great job sharing the gospel and fielding questions from our group of 15 youth at Maheba Refugee Settlement. It was a bittersweet moment for them to lead 6 to salvation on their last visit to Maheba.
  • Pray for IMB team member Abby as she continues to disciple these youth.

Daily Needs Provided

This past Sunday, we visited a church that reminded us of God’s presence in this country. We stayed for two services and experienced some great things at both. We were fed an amazing lunch and were sent home with dinner and some chocolates, but that is not even close to the best part.

At the second service, one of the worship leaders told the story about how, after the first service, someone felt compelled to buy her groceries and lunch. She spoke about how she was currently living month to month selling recyclables to make ends meet. According to our translator, it was the “nicest grocery store” she had ever been to. She is totally on fire for the Lord. We prayed for her and got a picture with her!

Please pray for our friend... that she will continue to walk in obedience to the Lord & that He will continue to meet her needs.

Prayers moving forward

As I begin to think and pray about the year of being a “missionary to the campuses” ahead of me, I ask that you will continue to join me in prayer.
  • Pray that I wouldn’t forget the sweet work I saw God do in and through me & my team this summer, but that I would hold on to the lessons He’s taught me.
  • Pray I would continue to believe in the power of the Holy Spirit to move & work through me, and to move and work in others to bring people from death to life.
  • Pray for open doors & opportunities to foster gospel friendships on the campus I will be personally working to engage.
  • Pray that I would be a more effective mobilizer of college students & a more effective welcomer of international students as a result of my experiences this summer.
  • Pray that people in our college ministry would be discipled well to have a heart for the nations and that our college ministry would not be about us but would be about God’s glory to the ends of the earth.
  • Please also continue to pray for the people & ministries we encountered in the Philippines, that God would continue to strengthen these ministries and change the culture of the Philippines from one of spiritual confusion and lostness to one of abundant life in Christ.

With great joy,

Summing up the Summer: Ethan

What an absolute blessing it was from the Lord for me to be able to serve with Nehemiah Teams this summer. My family has been working with Nehemiah Teams since I was 6 years old, and the 14 years since then I’ve said, “I’m gonna go one day.” I never would I have dreamed this is how it would turn out.

Our team saw salvations, baptisms, and so many gospel seeds planted. God is faithful and He would’ve still been faithful had none of these things happened. Over this summer, God has shown me the true lostness of the world. You hear about it, but it’s very different when you see it. God has called me to go, make His name known, and I will never stop, until I die or until He comes back for me.

As believers we wait for this call from the Lord, but it’s already happened. There are many calls from God. When I read Matthew 28:18-20, I can’t see how that isn’t the call. What about Revelation 7:9? And our response should be Isaiah 6:8. The call is all over the Bible but many choose to overlook it.

We are called to share the gospel to all nations, all peoples. Peoples here at home and those overseas. There is no exception. This is an encouragement to all believers. Let’s live everyday for God. Die to ourselves. And like the great missionary C.T. Studd once said, “If Jesus Christ be God and died for me, then no sacrifice can be too great for me to make for Him.”

Daily steps of obedience

In the homeless shelters, we had the opportunity to give away two Bibles! The lady who was receptive last week said that her prayer time has been helpful and looks forward to getting into the Word. Our friend Marco has dedicated time each night to read “at least one page of the Bible” as well.

We have been spending time at a local school. Recently, we had the end of June Festival party. As the children were being released for break after Friday, it will likely be the last time we get to see those kids. It was bittersweet as we spent more time with them that day than we ever had. We have full confidence that God’s love will continue to be shown to them even after we leave.

Pray for perseverance in minister over the coming weeks.
Pray for the health of the kids & ourselves on & off the pitch (soccer is a major part of our ministry outreach)
Pray for boldness in sharing with lost souls.

Heading to debrief

On June 26th, we began our travel back to the US. After roughly 48 hours, we arrived back in Mentone, AL. I’ll be honest, I wasn’t looking forward to debrief. Training had been hard for me on the front end, and I was really ready to just go home.

But the Lord moved mightily during those last couple days. Our team joined back up with the other 100+ students who went out through Nehemiah Teams to various locations in the Asia Pacific Rim. Together, we shared the stories of what God had done, worshipped, and many people committed their lives to going long-term overseas if the Lord wills. Many more committed to sending, praying, mobilizing, welcoming internationals, and simply living differently as a result of what God has done in our hearts and in the countries we visited this summer.

Pray for the students who have returned home after serving these past 6 weeks.
Pray for opportunities for students to share what God has done IN and THROUGH them this summer.

A Flood of Obedience

There is no success without sacrifice. If you succeed without sacrifice, it is because someone has suffered before you. If you sacrifice without success, it is because someone will succeed after. -Adoniram Judson

My team and I are about halfway through our mission trip now. With all of the ups and downs we have experienced, I am so blessed to have Lucas and Annsleigh standing next to me. They have taught me so much about faith and
perseverance.
It’s so easy to see God’s hand during our trip because of all of the beauty we are surrounded by. Even the gas stations have the most jaw dropping views!
We’ve spent this week in so much fellowship! Getting to know the church body here at Malama Christian Fellowship has been the biggest blessing. They are some of the most generous people I have met. They have loved us like family!
God is teaching me so much about letting go of all of the little things to make His plans priority in my life. I look into my future and I see so many possibilities, it’s paralyzing. When I sit and think of all of the things that I could do with my life, I begin to lose sight of what God has commanded me to do. I don’t need a map for my life, I need a compass that is fixed on God. Our maps look different in each season of life, but our compass will show us if we are headed in the right direction.
John Piper says, “You don’t have to know a lot of things for your life to make a lasting difference in the world. But you do have to know the few great things that matter, and then be willing to live for them and die for them.”
With the help of our good friend Cyril, we have officially reached about 40 people with intentional Gospel conversations now!! I have the names of each of those people so we can continue to pray over them (please DM me if you’d like this list).
Every single life holds so much significance in God’s eyes. My friend Cyril has taught me to not neglect a single person that crosses our paths. We cannot pick and choose who gets to hear the Good News. During our times of evangelism, he has shown an incredible amount of boldness through his faith in Jesus. He has taught me that regardless of how you share the Gospel, it’s takes the same step in obedience to do so. Obtaining this obedience is a daily denial of your flesh and desires. It’s rooted in Bible intake and prayer.

Please pray that our team is flooded with the obedience to continue reaching the people in this area.

Partnering in the task

On June 13th we arrived at our final location in the Philippines—another farm and Bible school site in the northern Philippines. While at this site, our team got to work helping with a few projects around the farm. We took down and rebuilt a chicken fence, helped to lay a foundation for a new home that will be built on the property, and helped to build a gravel path.

Between manual projects, we also had many opportunities to go out in shifts to various communities in the area. Partnering with local pastors and translators, we shared our testimonies via home Bible studies and other house visits.

On one of our last nights at the farm, we invited everyone over for a worship night. We praised the Lord together both in English and Tagalog! It was a sweet time of rejoicing in the salvation of our God!

Pray for the local missionary team as they continue to develop the farm & for the students who are training at the Bible school.

Daily opportunities to share

Hayden and I recently visited two more churches. At the first one, he helped with worship and I preached. At the 2nd one, we filled similar roles but also shared our testimonies.

We visited the homes of two loving Christian households. They mentioned some lost people in their lives, and we encouraged them to continue to pursue discipleship. We know that through prayer and obedience, nothing is impossible with God and the Holy Spirit will eventually convict those souls back to Him!

Our main context in our ministry is beginning to show fruit as well. We have recently been given some more specific goals in the community which is an answered prayer. We have had a few chances to share the Gospel with children and hope to meet the rest of those families in the near future. The kids are truly so much fun to be around daily.

Pray for the continued growth of all the churches that we have visited.
Pray for the lost souls of the families we met recently.

Thankful for friends in Fiji!

These past 6 weeks have been such a blessing to me! I thank God...
for all the relationships we were able to build,
for all the people that we had the opportunity to share the Gospel with,
for our Fiji families that adopted us like their own,
for the countless rugby matches,
for all the amazing churches we got to partner with for God's amazing work,
for the opportunity to preach...
and I thank God for guiding our team & opening doors for us this summer in the beautiful country of Fiji.

All I can say is Vinaka Vakalevu ♥️ God is Good! See you again Fiji Family!

Leave God's Children Alone

Our town is a hotspot for human trafficking. Malama Christian Fellowship displays so much boldness on Sundays through their sign waving. They line the streets demanding that the human traffickers leave God’s children alone. It’s heartbreaking to hear about all that has happened. However, it is so encouraging to know there is a church that loves their community so much and is willing to do something about it!

This trip has genuinely taught me that only Jesus satisfies. Nothing that this world could ever offer will sustain your life the way Jesus does. I am surrounded by the most beautiful views and there is still brokenness all around. Children with hungry bellies, families with no home, and a shared feeling of emptiness. So many times we put our value in our works, our relationships,
and ourself. When in reality our sin pushes us so far away from any redemption. But God loves us so much. We have absolute reassurance through His sacrificial love.
It’s been so beautiful to share that truth with others.

Please continue to pray that more opportunities come our way and that we take the necessary step in boldness to speak Jesus into their hearts.

Praying for a harvest

The Lord did some very exciting things during our time at the farm in Cebu. Our team was blessed to develop sweet friendships with our national partners & their local church. Through our children’s outreach, many youth and kids heard the gospel and were engaged by the local church. Since we left, we have heard reports that many of those who attended our VBS Bible studies have started regularly attending the church whenever their doors are open!

Pray for the national partners who continue to follow up with those who attended the children's outreaches & Bible studies.
Pray for children to come to Christ through this ongoing witness.
