Soaring Like Eagles

As we enter our third week in country, the team can feel it. Several stomachs have seen better days and five pairs of eyes are showing a lack of sleep. Our request is that we can run and not grow weary, walk and not be faint. It is clear that the Enemy doesn't want to see us full of strength and joy. Thankfully our Father is stronger than the Enemy.

This past week has been full of great opportunity. On Sunday, T, a student we are building a relationship with, invited us to his apartment to teach us how to cook spring rolls (our favorite food here). Unfortunately, our team leader wasn't feeling well that day, so he didn't go with us. Nevertheless, the rest of us were able to go and meet T's two roommates, D and K.

While T and K went to the market to buy the necessary ingredients, we sat talking with D about the World Cup (a subject of great interest here). He mentioned that it would be a "miracle" if the US won their next game, then he said "But I believe in miracles."

We jumped at the chance and mentioned that we believed in them too. As a matter of fact, we just happened to know a lot of stories about miracles and a certain Man that did a bunch of them. After telling him some of the Stories, he shared with us that his mother was a believer. He, however, was not. But he agreed that the Stories might very well be true, and that it is smart to put your belief in something.
He also talked about how the thought of death scares him, because he doesn't know what happens afterwards. We explained that death did not scare us, because we knew exactly what was going to happen to us after death. He seemed to desire this kind of peace.

At this time, T and K returned. T does not believe in the Story we have shared with him. He finds it lacking in proof. K's English was not the greatest, so he did not really respond.

Pray for our local friends to feel the need for a Savior (essentially, for Father to break them).
Pray for strength and joy for our team, as we begin to grow emotionally and physically weary.
