A Trip to Shirley

Jordan and I left The City to go to Shirley, Long Island for a week.  Monday, we and 5 other interns took the Long Island Railroad and two hours later found ourselves in a rural area.
We spent the week at TRINITY BAPTIST CHURCH and enjoyed working with the sweet people there at their VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL.

Our theme was Amazing Wonders Aviation and with 65 kids we studied the word, sang of God’s power, played games, did crafts, and ate together.  I worked in the Kindergarten class and Jordan was one of the Recreation Leaders all week.

On Friday the week culminated in a family night in which the kids performed their songs, director.          Miriam gave awards, Pastor Kurt presented the gospel to the kids and their families, and several people cooked hamburgers and hotdogs for all the kids and their families.

The rain stopped just in time for the cookout and all of us visiting interns got to fellowship with our new friends before we got back on the train to New York City.
