I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world. - John 16:33
When we are doing God’s work, spiritual warfare is eminent.
Wherever you go, whether it is the jungles of Africa or the streets of
Nashville, we are fighting a spiritual battle. Any time you throw a variety of
people together from varying backgrounds conflict can easily arise. Tensions
between teammates are rites of passage for Satan to enter in and try to attack.
When 6 girls live together in an apartment, conflict happens and everyone doesn’t
always agree. When the enemy strikes we must fight back with prayer.
And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints. – Ephesians 6:18
Regardless of our circumstances, seeking the Lord through
prayer and scripture are the only ways to fight back. When we pray powerfully
and boldly proclaim the name of Jesus, the enemy has nothing to stand on. He
must flee. As our teams have settled in to our apartment this week, we have experienced
spiritual warfare even in the small things like grocery shopping. Yet, God has
been faithful to help us fight those battles through a consistent time of
prayer. Also, humility and transparency before God and one another has been a
key in overcoming our struggles. No matter what trials we may face, God is
bigger than all our battles and he carries us through. Although we face
struggles, we take heart because He has overcome the world.
Ways to Pray:
- Pray for continued unity and peace for our teams
- Pray that we begin to build good relationships with our neighbors
- Pray for opportunities to begin spiritual conversations with people we meet
